Top 3 Changes To Australian Immigration

August 11, 2019

Australian government has drastically reduced its intake of permanent migrants to 160,000 per year and has also increased the immigration fees payable at the time of lodgement of visa application.
There are, however, some positive changes which potential migrants should bear in mind:

1. Regional Visa – The Australian government has announced new provisional Regional Visa (491) and has set aside 14,000 places for it. This Regional Visa is better than Work Visa as it does not tie down a visa holder to an employer and offers a direct pathway to permanent residency.

2. Additional Points – Eligible applicants now get 15 points when applying for a Regional Visa and an additional 10 points if they are single or if they have a skilled spouse/partner

3. Citizenship – Australian government has abandoned its plan to increase requirements for English proficiency and length of residency for migrants who are currently applying for Citizenship or might do so in future. This is extremely good news for potential migrants as they can still become an Australian citizen within 4 years of legally residing in Australia.

It is anticipated that the Regional Visa with its relaxed requirements will become the visa of choice for potential migrants.

Applicants should take note that completing a Skills Assessment is one of the crucial requirements for this visa.
We have extensive experience in successfully lodging wide variety of visas and would gladly assisting you through all steps of the application process including Skills Assessment.
