Simple Steps For Australian Migration Application

December 24, 2019

The Year 2019 is now coming to end and it is the best time to get your Australian Immigration process back on track and to give it priority as part of your new year resolution.

Australia migration intake for the year 2019-2020 has a total of 160,000 places available, out of which over 108,000 places (nearly 70%) of the program has been reserved for Skilled Migration Streams.

The migrant intake program is quite competitive and to ensure that one gets a chance to move to Australia, an applicant must take planned initial steps to fulfil the requirements.

We have simplified the process of doing this in 4 simple steps listed below:

Step 1 – Check your occupation availability

One of the first steps is for an applicant to check whether their occupation is among the 504 occupations listed on the medium and long term list, short term list or regional occupation list.

A comprehensive list of these occupations can be accessed here.

Step 2 – Initiate Process of Skills Assessment
If an applicant’s occupation is listed on one of the aforementioned lists, then the next step would be to undertake the process of skills assessment.

In this process the Skills Assessing authorities basically assess whether applicant’s work experience and qualifications are relevant to their nominated occupation and whether these are equal to Australian standards or not.

This is a crucial step as it basically determines an applicant’s overall eligibility for migration purposes. As such, if an applicant does not pass a skills assessment then they cannot proceed any further. Further details about the Skills Assessment process can be found here.

Step 3 – Undertake English Test
English requirements vary and depend on the type of visa an applicant is applying for.

Deciding the stage at which the applicant should undertake an English proficiency test depends on the preference of the applicant.

For further details on English score requirements and a comparison between PTE and IELTS test, please refer to the following link.

While applicants may give preference to one language test over another, based on our experience we recommend carefully evaluating the available options and weighing pros and cons of the acceptable English language tests such as PTEIELTSTOEFL iBTOET and Cambridge C1 Advanced Test.

Step 4 – Prepare and Lodge a Visa Application
Once the Skills Assessment and English language proficiency requirements have been met, then the applicant can proceed with the relevant visa application.

Different visa types have different sub steps involved in the application process.
